IBIZA WILL WELCOME TOURISTS FROM JUNE
Spain’s tourism minister says the country will “guarantee safe mobility as of June”. Ibiza will be able to welcome tourists from June.
Reyes Maroto used an appearance on national television on Friday, to promise that the country will “guarantee safe mobility as of June”.
This is when the EU “digital green certificate” vaccine passport is due to be operational, an initiative that Spain has been supportive of since the beginning of the year, and which will unlock tourism for it’s mainland and islands, including Ibiza.
“These will allow our country to reopen safely and be pioneers” Maroto said of the certificate, which will allow travellers to show that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, recently recovered from the virus, or had a negative test result via a QR code.
Maroto said that Spain is currently working with it’s main tourism markets – which includes the UK – to prepare for the relaunch of safe international tourism.
It is also reported that the country will launch a PR campaign to show “the attributes and the trust that can be placed in Spain as a safe travel destination.”
Maroto also placed emphasis on Spain’s vaccine programme, saying that “the most important thing is to build trust, and this trust is gained by fighting the pandemic and by vaccinating, vaccinating and vaccinating.”
